22/09/2008: First use of the 3 new flat-deck semi-trailers for wind turbine rotor blades

In the course of last week, we have started operations of 3 new flat-deck semi-trailers for wind turbine rotor blades. The first transports were carried out between Geel (B) and Pont à Celles near Charleroi (B), where a wind power site with 6 wind turbines is currently being installed. We transported the nacelles, hubs and rotor blades for two of these turbines.

The new trailers are extendible to up to 46 m and hence perfectly suited for the transport of rotor blades for wind turbine with a length of up to 50 m. We will add a 4-axle semi-trailer from Goldhofer as well as a 4-axle and a 5-axle semi-trailer from Faymonville.

With this investment, we complete our offer in the area of wind power installations. Besides unloading of canal boats and intermediary storage of complete wind turbines on our heavy lift terminal and the transport of the towers and nacelles, we can then also take care of the transport of the rotor blades.
